Peter Lines - Snooker Player of the Year

snooker and pool table company

Peter Lines has been a long-standing player in snooker. He has reached the final of both the English Amateur Championship as well as the quarter-finals in the China Open. His success on the professional circuit began in 1991, when he turned professional. In the early 1990s, his quarter-finals reached at the Strachan Open as well as the Asian Open. He qualified for the televised stages in 1998 of the World Championship.

While his career is mostly unremarkable, Lines' performance in the last few years of his career has been more than respectable. For the first ever time in his life, he made it to 64th place on the Order of Merit. The best part of his season was his run in the German Masters. In which he reached the semifinals and almost won,

After a promising start, his 2011/12 season was dreadful. As the season progressed his pressure mounted and he lost matches in four of his ranking events. He was only ranked 57th on European Tour at the end of the season. He was able to qualify for the World Championship qualifiers and secured a spot on the European Tour for another year.

He also won two major tournaments. He defeated Joe Perry, Ian McCulloch, and Joe Perry. He was also qualified for the Players Tour Championships (PTC), but his performance was not sufficient to keep him in main tour.

In 2010, he won the UK Championship, but he was again relegated to the PTC events after the 2015/16 season. He continues to participate in amateur tournaments.

Lines' conduct during a match against Chinese pro billiards and snooker associations (WPBSA), was deemed inappropriate by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. A complaint was sent to the World Snooker Tour, who has launched a thorough investigation into his actions. The World Snooker Tribunal will likely be referred to the formal complaint made by Xiao Guodong's staff.

The case was heard by the WPBSA on December 16th. Lines was fined for his offence. An interesting aspect of the fine was that Lines was found guilty by two rules related to player behavior.

His replacement of the white cue ball after a foul was called for in the first rule. In this situation, professional players are not uncommon to temporarily hang up their cues. Brendan Moore (Lines' opponent) fought with him on this issue. They both claimed that Lines had made an error, but Lines alleged that he was correct.

On the other hand, the World Snooker Tour said that he used "swear words and intimidation" during the match. Lines threatened to fight outside.
