You must be able to hit a great stun shot in pool. It could make the difference between winning or losing. There are many kinds of shots. Each has its own rules. You cannot simply hit the ball. Instead, you'll need to hit it hard. The greater the chances that it will be able to pocket, the more you hit it.

A stun shot can be defined as a shot that requires strong hits. In a straight pool game, this means the cue ball has to travel straight in, and not veer off course. This is often achieved by putting a jack up, or elevating the butt end of the cue.

A "break", also known as a shot, is one made at the last OOB of a straight swimming pool game. There are a few different types of break shots. Some are used to help you get out of trouble and others to help you score more. One example is the golden breaking, or the gold pocket.

Another option is the breakout shot, also known as break-out. This type is a great way to score quick shots when the ball cluster moves out of position. If your shot is lucky, it will cause a jarring effect on your opponent, which can put him in a bad position. Often, a good hit will result is an OB that is still on a table making it difficult to knock the ball out.

A "break" isn't the only way to win. There are many other ways to accomplish the same thing:

Grade A shot: This is a shot with high success rates. For example, a good hit will strike an OB first, followed by a second hit that can pocket the OB.

Fancy shot: This rare skill requires a lot of practice as well as a prop. This requires a fast, precise stroke, known as a J stroke. A "J", unlike a normal jab stroke, is curved and acts like a pendulum. Similarly, a "jelly roll" is a roll of the cue ball that is especially beneficial for the shooter.

Fancy-looking: A fancy-looking shot can also be called a "flight". Flight is a fancy looking shot that may not be as accurate but is nonetheless the most impressive. A flight is usually a low percent shot, such a top/bottom rotation or a flying one.

Stun shot: While a stun shot may not be as glamorous as other types of shots, it's actually pretty important. It's a good idea to have it on hand. If you don't, your opponent might easily win.

Other common names for a stun shot are the grade "B" shot, the jelly roll, and the nip draw. Which one is the most important?

A pool nip is a good idea. This keeps the CB's from jumping off the table. A nip stroke is a little more complicated, as the follow through is minimal.
